First, just want to say that I'm sorry for not updating recently. Summer tends to get very busy and then very hot and humid making sitting at the computer almost impossible.

I think I'm a Dyeing Addict

So, was thinking today... as I was dyeing my fibers for my PhatFiber samples for next month... I think I might just be a Dyeing Addict.

I don't do so well in the heat and humidity. I normally suffer through July and typically it dries out in August around here. We happen to be having quite a cool July so I just keep on dyeing. I figure sooner rather than later it will get too hot and muggy for me and I'll just be vegging in front of a fan so might as well get some work done while it is on the cool side.

However, it has been great for way longer than I ever expected. I'm now sitting on about 20 pounds of dyed fiber, all of which expects to be batts at some point. I have about 3 pounds of dyed/painted combed top that isn't yet listed in the shop and somewhere around 2 pounds of different types of locks, for me to use in batts or to core spin etc....

I added this up and realized that I have somewhere around 25 pounds (not counting the 2 pounds for Phat samples) of dyed fibers from just the last month, not counting what is up in the shop... so, what else can I possibly be... but an ADDICT! Mind you, this is not counting washed fleeces or combed top that I have that have not yet met the dye pots.

So, what's a girl to do? I love dyeing fiber! I must have every color in my head available to me should I want it... so I just keep dyeing and dyeing... hopefully, I'm not the only one and someone else happens to "get" this!

Anyway, here's the new pile of locks that went up that match what I did in the July PhatFiber boxes. Most of them are sold already so I guess I'll spend some time tomorrow picking more mohair locks so that I can do another batch... of dyeing... heehee

They sure are prettiful though!

So, carder is here and has been put to use! Along with new batts are some new combed top as well. I will be adding new items everyday this week to celebrate getting the new carder! Mention "carder" and I'll discount your purchase by 10%... and it doesn't even have to be on batts!

Just thought I'd post a quick note. I've been very busy with the holiday and family parties and such... also been awaiting all sorts of fibers and fleeces AND... my new carder will be here within a couple of days!!!

I've been preparing fibers for awhile in the hopes of ordering a carder. Now that one is coming, I couldn't help but buy all sorts of fleeces and other fun add-ins. I will soon be offering batts and I plan on making a big "to do" about it when I have a hefty little update ready!

Anyway, keep the eyes peeled on all my normal update spots as I plan to have some fun with my new toy and everyone gets to have some fun with me!

In the mean time... check out this toad that was in my zucchini patch... he's hiding, you gotta look close... heehee

Featuring: The Critter Ranch

So, I decided to start showing off some fiber friends and fellow artists. The first one had to be the Woman who started it all... for me that is.

My sister-in-law and one of my best friends, Sue at The Critter Ranch. I started by helping her with some little projects, painting mostly and it kind of ballooned from there. There is no stopping it now and she is right there with me... couldn't give up fiber if we wanted to.

She currently has.... uhmm... A LOT of Llamas, somewhere around 20 and a couple/few alpacas too. See, keeping count is tough as she boards animals as well as having her own. She even owns a National Grand Champion Heavy Wool Male, he's a nice looking guy! Which brings to to a fun fact... in the last 3 days there have been 2 of his babies born... aren't they cute???

She also has an Etsy Shop... http://thecritterranch.etsy.com/ where she specializes in locally grown fiber. Of course she uses her own animal's fiber, most of which is incredibly soft and silky, and she also obtains other wool, alpaca and llama fleeces from other local farms. Oh, did I mention that she also runs a shearing service?

Need More Hours in a Day

I feel as though I've been running around working but get nothing done... if there were more hours in the day, I could do more and still get nowhere *giggle*

Busy but Still Posting New Stuff

As the end of the school year approaches, the garden goes in, the spring cleaning gets done and in the midst of it all... I'm still adding new items to the shop. Being in the kitchen with the dye pans really has become my get-away and my art, all wrapped into one, at least that's what it feels like for me. Not too much to say for now, other than here's a sampling of some of the newest....

Memorial Weekend

So, it is Memorial Weekend and I pretty much expect that everything in the shop and such will be dead but I'll be periodiacally listing and renewing anyway. No shipping until Tuesday though so I'm not in a huge rush.

We are going to a cookout with the family but I'll be checking in as usual!

Living in the Kitchen

I have been living in the kitchen most of this week. Dyeing all sorts of fiber! Most of it will show up in the shop but had to start preparing for the show at the end of the month. I'll post more details about that soon!

It is late and I'm exhausted, had a teenager with prom tonight, so alas, I'm still awake!

New Fiber Here and More Coming!

So, I'm all sorts of excited! I received one of my wool orders yesterday and there is also another on the way here.... so make sure to keep a watch out for new fibers and colors!

I also got to order the Jumbo Flyer for my spinning wheel!!! More yardage on the handspuns without making seperate skeins!

Okay so back to the shop stuff! There is a sale on some of the older fibers as I gotta make room for what got here and what is still coming! You can search "sale" in the shop and see what is left. I may even reduce some more over the weekend so make sure to check it out!

Here's a few things that are new this week though.... a new dye lot of the Earthy Rainbow plus some other pretties too!!!

First Actual Blog for Fiber Fancy

Alright, so this first ever post was supposed to go up about two days ago. This blog was intended for updates and information about the happenings of Fiber Fancy. http://fiberfancy.etsy.com/

Personal life decided to interfere on Friday by leaving me in a stranded car in a store parking lot. Just so you know, lots of metal on metal scraping sounds is bad. Thank goodness I have wonderful in-laws who rescued me and helped us do errands so that the car could be fixed. New springs and struts and NO metal on metal sounds left!

So, in the midst of all the fun stuff.... I did manage to work on a few dye jobs.... here's samples of a couple that are currently in the shop...

So, hopefully I will get to do much more this week and figure out how to make this blog look better too!
